Link #89: Here And Now is an excellent evening drive time radio show on CBC Radio One. I was interviewed today to talk about Stutter Social and the use of Google Plus Hangouts to unite stutterers around the world. I enjoyed out chat very much. We talked about how Stutter Social got started, what it’s [continue reading...]
Link #88: Gerald McBoing Boing is a charming 1950′s cartoon about a boy who speaks in sound effects. I couldn’t help feel how much this can relate to stuttering. From the parents freaking out when he started talking (sound effecting?) to the social punishment to the happy ending where Gerald McBoing Boing uses his speech [continue reading...]
Link #87: My new friend, Kyle Dunn, started up a blog with his friend, Jordan Michaels, called Stuttering Professionals. It’s a journal type blog where Kyle and Michael share their stuttering experiences and tips in the workplace. This topic and website has lots of potential and I can see it becoming a big force in [continue reading...]
Link #86: My friend and world’s first (and only?) female stuttering comedian, Nina G, and her friend, Gina D made a stuttering version of the “Sh*t X people say” meme that’s been going around lately. In short, it’s hilarious. And pretty quick way to get the message across when talking to us. Great job, ladies!
Link #85: My friends, Pamela Mertz, Alexander Burday and Lisa Barone were interviewed on local television recently to send the word out to parents and fellow stutterers that you can be a success in spite of your stuttering. Way to go, guys!
Link #84: “Stuttering with the PoetPatriot” is a page of poems and reflections about stuttering written by, well, the PoetPatriot! I think my favourites are Stuttered Stress, Voice Rejoice, Speak A Speech and Stuttered Justice. This is a great example of using your talents to help fellow stutterers and also spread awareness about stuttering.
Link #83: I woke up this morning to find 10 notifications on my Google Plus account. To my surprise and delight, someone had stumbled upon a Stutter Social chat and wrote an article about it! The author, Paul Roustan, a freelance airbrush artist (how cool is that?), was Hangout hopping with his friends when he [continue reading...]
Link #82: It saddens me to read that a 17 year old kid committed suicide because he felt he couldn’t live with his stuttering. It saddens me that many people have committed suicide for the same reason. While producing my podcast over the years, once in a while I learn that an interview guest had [continue reading...]
Link #81: A Stutterer Faces Resistance, From the Front of the Class. My friend, fellow stutterer and previous Stuttering is Cool guest, Philip Garber, was actually told by his teacher not to ask questions in class. Instead, she asked him to write his questions down and ignored him every time he raised his hand. While [continue reading...]
Link #80: The Stutterer, by R.R. Merliss, is a sci-fi story form the 1950s about a robot with a stutter and a message for Earth. Since the story is in the public domain, I illustrated a cover for it, assembled it into an ebook and I’m making it available for download for free! It’s available [continue reading...]
