The King’s Speech theatrical trailer

Link #56

Finally! The theatrical trailer for “The King’s Speech” starring Colin Firth as King Geroge VI and Geoffrey Rush as Lionel Logue, the royal eccentric speech therapist. I noticed one line was slightly changed from the movie ;) Just watching this gets me on the edge of my seat. Can’t wait to see it again. For details about the movie’s gala premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, listen to episode 95 of my podcast.

International trailer released in October 2010:

    Please,
Where can I find the trailer with hearing impaired subtitles? I am hearing impaired and would like to understand what is being said in the trailer. Thanks.

I couldn’t find one so I transcribed it myself :)

    Inside Lionel Logue’s office foyer

Cut to scene of King George VI speaking into microphone in front of filled stadium: I have received… (blocking, struggling to get words out)

Back to scene in Lionel’s office foyer
Lionel Logue (speech therapist): Perhaps he should change jobs

Queen Elizabeth: And what if my husband were the king?

Scene in the royal family’s home
Queen Elizabeth (voice over): My husband has seen everyone.

Unknown speech therapist (handing King George VI marbles): Insert them into your mouth

    King George VI: (mumbling words)

    Unknown speech therapist (urging): Enunciate!

Back to scene in Lionel’s office foyer
Lionel Logue: He hasn’t seen me… I can cure your husband but I need total trust.

    Inside Lionel’s office
Lionel Logue: What was your earliest memory?

King George VI: I’m not (blocking) here to discuss (blocking) personal matters!

Lionel Logue: Why are you here then?

King George VI (shouting): Because I bloody well stammer!

Lionel Logue: Do you know any jokes?

King George VI: (blocking) Timing isn’t my strong suit

    Lionel Logue (shares laugh)

Back to scene in Lionel’s office’s foyer
Queen Elizabeth: Your methods are unorthodox and controversial

    Scene in Lionel’s office
King George VI and Lionel Logue: (making vocal noises)

Lionel Logue: Up comes her royal highness

Queen Elizabeth (sitting on King George VI’s chest): This is actually quite good fun

    King George VI: Yes.

King George VI and Lionel Logue: (making vocal noises)

Queen Elizabeth, King George VI and Lionel Logue (loudly towards open window): AAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW

    Peering from behind a doorway

Sitting in Lionel’s office holding a toy airplane:
King George VI: You’re very peculiar

Lionel Logue: I take that as a compliment

    Somewhere in Buckingham Palace
Winston Churchill: War with Germany will come. And we will need a king who we can all stand behind

    Scene in Lionel’s home
Lionel Logue: Afraid of his own shadow

King George VI: Would be like mad King George the stammerer. (turns around, sees Lionel Logue sitting in a chair and begins shouting) Get up! You can’t sit in there. Get up!

Lionel Logue: Why not? It’s a chair.

King George VI: That is St. Edward’s chair!

Lionel Logue: People have carved their names on it.

King George VI: Listen to me! Listen to me!

Lionel Logue: Why should I waste my time listening to you?

King George VI (shouting): Because I have a voice!

    Lionel Logue: Yes you do.
